Real Life Kitchens for Busy Families: Planning Your Next Remodel

You are here: Home / Home Improvement / Real Life Kitchens for Busy Families: Planning Your Next Remodel
July 14, 2019 by admin

Let’s be real – has anyone’s kitchen ever looked like what we see in interior design magazines or on Instagram? For most of us, that’s not even close to reality.

When you’ve got kids or grandkids in the kitchen with you, things get messy. The island might be used for getting homework done way more than it’s ever used for making homemade pie crust. You need a dishwasher that works and a refrigerator that can stand up to teenagers opening it twelve times a day. There’s a lot of food to make, laughter to enjoy, and cleaning up to do in a great family kitchen.

Planning the Needham Kitchen Remodel

If you’re planning to upgrade your kitchen, a good first step is to identify what it is you don’t like about your current kitchen. The number one reason families in the Needham area renovate their kitchen is because they don’t have enough space. When you’re crowded in the kitchen, it’s hard to have fun cooking together. Families need a little elbow room to make food prep, cooking, and clean up easier.

Sometimes the issue is that the kitchen is dated, and doesn’t really suit your family’s current lifestyle. If your kitchen hasn’t been renovated since the 1990’s or early 2000’s, chances are that the appliances are overdue for replacement, which is often the trigger for a major kitchen renovation.

When planning your kitchen renovation, it helps to make a list of things you definitely don’t want to change as well as things you do. If you’re committed to keeping your kitchen cabinetry, for example, talk to a member of our design team to discover how you can best obtain a fresh new look while keeping it in place. For best results, keep an open mind. Your design team may have suggestions you haven’t considered that will work very well in your new kitchen – for example, adding windows to increase the amount of natural light.
